Production blog; finishing filming

Image
Last week was spring break so we decided it was a good time to finish filming our last scenes. It was easy since we had no school and our schedules were more open than usual. We had a few scenes to film at the resurant Paige works at. When it was dark we starting filming since we needed it to be night time for our scenes. We started off with the indoor scenes first, Ella was sitting at a booth. We picked a section that was the most empty to not disturb the customers. Ella was texting her date that she was waiting at the restuant for. We had to zoom in on her phone and have different angles of her texting her date. We made sure to re-shoot this scene a few times to have it right. Next we had to wait for no customers to be at the front so we could do the scene of the girls walking up to the hostess. We got permission from the host to use her in our film as-well. Then we went outside to the alley to finish off our scenes. It was late so we made sure to have one of Paige's co-workers w...

We realized we never finished getting the rest of our props for the final scenes. We didn't  really need props in the first scenes so we never got around to it.  We had to go a few different stores to get them. We first got the walkie talkies. We were going to borrow them from Paige's job ,but in order follow Covid  precautions we decided it would be safer to just get our own. Then we went out to get some fake blood. We have to film the final scenes this week when we are less busy. We also need it to be at night but since the time change, it gets darker later. We are going to finish out a schedule this weekend that is best fit for everyone. We were all really busy this week since it was the final few days before the quarter ending. We all decided it was best to film on Thursday so we could all be there. Paige's managers gave complete permission too film at the restaurant. Also Thursday is the slowest day at the restaurant so it's perfect for no distractions. I'm exc...

Production blog (filming at Ella's house)

My group and I starting our filming process last weekend. We filmed the scene's that took place at Ella's house. My group and I met up at Ella's house and began filming the beginning scenes. We were all on time and ready to work. We made sure to meet up early enough so we had plenty of time to film in the day light. We had a minor setback at the beginning because we filmed the first few scene's with the phone the wrong direction. We then had to re-shoot the scene's that were messed up. I'm glad we realized  early on rather than when we we're done filming. The whole process of filming that day took around 2 hours. Our first scene took about 10-15 minutes to film outside. Then we went inside to finish off filming the other scene's. There were a few scene's in Ella's room. The main one was us introducing the dating app that our film is revolved around. There are quite a lot of lines we had to memorize and practice prior to filming. We had to do re-t...

This weekend we're supposed to start filming our video. Our video I think can be filmed in one or two days total.  We bought the walkie talkies and our props for the film. We're going to film at Ella J's house on Saturday afternoon. We are going to set Ella's house up just how we want it for the scenes. If we have enough time we are going to go to Paige's job to film after. Hopefully Paige's restaurant isn't too busy so we can film smoothly.  Also we can only film at Paige's if the sun hasn't completely set yet. But we can only Allison agreed to help us and we might even have our other friend Sophia in it as-well. Sophia might be an extra in the film or she might just help us film and set up. We're keeping the people helping us limited because of Covid. But we are all friends and see each-other quite often so it will be safe. Ella J has a professional camera we might use to film our video. I hope we can use it because I feel that will really bri...

My group was supposed to film this past weekend but we didn't find the time for all of us to be there. We knew we needed a few hours to perfect our film. We didn't want to rush it or have it turn out bad either. So we decided to wait and not do it then. We are planning on finishing memorizing our lines and preparing the timing and props this week. We also have to make sure the timing is right for our outdoor scenes. The lighting is going to be very important and that goes with the timing. This weekend my group and I are going to film the scenes that take place at Ella's house. We got permission from her parents that we could come and film there. We're not sure if we're going to film the parts at Paige's job this weekend since we're not sure how busy it'll be. Hopefully we can find time after we finish at Ella's to stop by Paige's job and see how busy it is. We also need to buy the props this week. Our friend Allison has agreed to be in our film a...

Filming and editing blog

My group and I are really excited to start filming our final project. We haven't started the process yet since we all have quite busy schedules were working around. Ella and I have soccer and my mom is sort of strict about seeing my friends on school nights. Also Paige works every day. As you can see we've had quite some time to plan since we haven't filmed yet. Our plan is to start filming this weekend. Another reason we waited is because we hadn't finished our storyboard until earlier this week. Paige works at a restaurant and has filmed there in the past so we are planning on filming there for this project. She needs to ask permission but they are pretty lenient and had no problems in the past. We've planned out everything we can think of that we need. The important things are walkie talkies and our other friends that will be in our film. Also the timing the restaurant will allow us to film at and talking to Ella's parents to let them know what day were film...

Planning blog: Storyboard

Image
Our final task has 11 scenes. But the storyboard has 40 slides and 7 pages. Each slide has a brief description of what's happening in each scene. The pictures on each slide portray what each scene is actually going to look like. They also include the camera angle for each scene.

Planning final task: Sound Script & Shooting Script

In the first scene a group of girls walk up to their friends house. They are walking up to the door and knock. They keep laughing and looking down at their phones. In the second scene the girls run into Ella's room. They tell her about the new app they downloaded. They thought this app would be a great way to get out there and get a boyfriend. Ella downloads the app in this scene. The third scene is of Ella waking up and getting a text message. It was from that app. She called Allison right away.  In the fourth scene Ella and Allison are talking back and forth. This scene is switching between both of them talking. In scene 5 all the girls are in the car. Ella opens the message she got. She sees its from a hot guy and responds back to the message. The next day, in scene 6 Ella is texting the mystery guy on her phone. He sets up the date for tomorrow night at 10pm. Ella asked to face time and he said his camera was broken. In the next scene Ella calls the girls and tells them about l...
