Production blog (filming at Ella's house)

My group and I starting our filming process last weekend. We filmed the scene's that took place at Ella's house. My group and I met up at Ella's house and began filming the beginning scenes. We were all on time and ready to work. We made sure to meet up early enough so we had plenty of time to film in the day light. We had a minor setback at the beginning because we filmed the first few scene's with the phone the wrong direction. We then had to re-shoot the scene's that were messed up. I'm glad we realized  early on rather than when we we're done filming. The whole process of filming that day took around 2 hours. Our first scene took about 10-15 minutes to film outside. Then we went inside to finish off filming the other scene's. There were a few scene's in Ella's room. The main one was us introducing the dating app that our film is revolved around. There are quite a lot of lines we had to memorize and practice prior to filming. We had to do re-takes of certain scene's when someone would mess up their lines. We actually didn't mess up as much as I though we were going to. Filming went quite smoothly and quick. Our group works well together so there wasn't any arguments or conflict. We finished in the afternoon while there was still day light. I had a good time filming and working on this first part of our film this past weekend. We are probably going to finish filming this up coming weekend and over spring break.

Genre research blog 3 - Suspense

  In suspense the camera movements are very important. Tilt is a very important camera movement in suspense. It shows the emotions in the film, by creating a questioning emotion through the screen. This allows the audience to feel the suspense from the film and the characters. Another camera movement used in a suspense film is zooming in. This shows the emotions of a character, which can create suspense for the viewer. Lighting is also important in a suspense film. Low-key lighting creates a dark tone that may make the audience concerned of what may happen. Camera angles often used in suspense are over the shoulder and close up shots. The over the shoulder angle creates a tension in the film, it makes the audience aware of what is happening to both characters. This will increase the suspense of the film for the audience. Genre research: Drama and Thriller

  Drama is another genre me and my group are interested in. The drama genre keeps us entertained. The drama keeps the characters in the dark. But keeps the viewers in the light and brings us, the audience, a world of insight and assurance. Even if we watch a disaster, we believe like we live more deeply through a character's heightened interactions, because not only is time compressed, but action and sense happen concurrently. The common lighting in this genre is low key lighting. The angles in the drama genre consist of wide angle, long shot, close up, extreme close up, two-shot, and over the shoulder. Also seen in this video is the common camera movements. The most common  mis-en-scenes are décor, lighting, costumes and makeup. Overall, we like how the drama genre is more enhanced.
